Template:Weapon The Crossbow is a special weapon that is featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops. It is equipped with explosive bolts by default in Zombies.
In Nazi Zombies, the Crossbow can be obtained via the Mystery Box in every map except for Moon. The blast radius makes it useful for taking out groups of zombies. However, the very long reload time and limited ammo makes it difficult to use effectively in solo mode, as the player is left vulnerable.
the Crossbow returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War as the R1 Shadowhunter, where it arrows are more powerful and it has optical attachment's, but the arrows are no longer explosive. When upgraded, it becomes the Lance-A-Lot, getting increased damage and reserve ammo.
Awful Lawton[]
The Pack-a-Punched variant, the "Awful Lawton", partially solves the problem of a slow reload by distracting any zombies near where the bolt lands, similar to a Monkey Bomb. The time that it distracts zombies is shorter than a Monkey Bomb however; if a player buys Quick Revive, the arrow will last a little longer before blowing up. If a Zombie is shot with the Awful Lawton, it will always be gibbed, and the zombie will humorously claw at the bolt that is stuck in it.

Trivia[]
- If the player runs out of ammo with the Crossbow, the character will still insert an arrow but will be unable to fire.
- On the Shi No Numa for Black Ops the arrow will go through the meteor instead of sticking to it.
Trophy/Achievement[]
If the player shoots a teammate with an upgraded crossbow, which in turn kills six zombies, both will get the trophy/achievement Sacrificial Lamb.
